Squat and deadlifts and a PR for Vivian

I figured I might be due for a bit of a down squat session after 3 straight weeks of improvement however I felt pretty good going into tonight's workout.  I normally would take two days off after my third workout of the week but since Vivian's birthday is tomorrow, we're on a MWF schedule this week so one less day of rest.  I didn't think it would make much of a difference but for whatever reason, I had much less energy and just couldn't sustain any bar speed through the workout.

My first work set with 385 was a grinding set of 8.  Whereas last week I got follow up sets of 6 and 6, tonight I was only able to get 6 and 5.   I didn't have much energy for sumo deadlifts and wasn't recovering between sets fast enough so I cut that short and finished with two sets of barbell shrugs with a floor pickup.  If next week's session doesn't kick back into gear, I'll reset my weights to 365 and shoot for 4 sets of 8.  Basically, I'm going to keep building my base wider and thicker to support eventual repetition volume with 405 and beyond.

On a very positive note, Vivian has been working towards a goal of deadlifting 200 lbs and tonight she crushed her goal with two smooth singles with 200 on the day before her birthday.  I video'd her first single for posterity.

She's been working hard to get that number and her increased strength has really improved her scapular mobility and her posture.  She can already crush the golf ball, I'm looking forward to seeing how she hits them next season with a much stronger base of support.

Squats:  135x10, 225x5, 275x5, add belt, 335x5, add wrist wraps, 385x8, 385x6, 385x5

Sumo Deadlift:  315x5, 405x5

Barbell Shrugs with a floor pickup:  405x10, 405x10
